INTEGRITY
I'm a planner. I like to have things, ideas, laid out and organized. Details are important to me. I'm one of those people who lays their clothes out the night before. So when I wake up on a Monday and something is nudging me telling me that the topic I chose for this week isn't the right one, to be quite honest, it's aggravating. But that's exactly what happened this morning.😕 I was all ready to post but that feeling wouldn't go away. So, I don't know who this message is for🤔 but i know someone needed it. Let's go...
Have you ever been around people that make you feel uncomfortable? People whom you might describe as shady, dodgy, slippery? The common trait among these type of people is that they don’t seem to be honest, and do not live with integrity. They are ok with telling lies to get what they want, and unfortunately, these people are all around us.
On the other hand, it’s always nice to be around straight-talking and honest people. You almost always know what’s on their mind and you know they do not have any hidden agenda. They are more trustworthy, and these are the kind of people we feel safe to hang out with.
Integrity, said author C.S. Lewis(I'm quoting him a lot lately), “is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.” Integrity is a foundational moral virtue, and the bedrock upon which good character is built.
Acting with integrity means understanding, accepting, and choosing to live in accordance with the principles of honesty, fairness, and decency. A person of integrity will consistently demonstrate good character by being free of corruption and hypocrisy. Integrity is revealed when people act virtuously regardless of circumstance or consequences. And if I might add, these sorts of folks are my tribe. I'd much rather be around someone who's a straight shooter, who may from time to time hurt a few feelings than someone who you never really know where they stand.
When living with integrity becomes natural for you, you’ll attract positive friendships and good honest people who appreciate your sincerity and love you for who you are. You will also live a more fulfilling and peaceful life since you won’t need to pretend anymore, wear a mask or keep track of your lies.
Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular. Integrity, it's one of those things money can't buy.
